It’s Been An Honor

Dear Principal Morrison, CVE Families, Staff, and Community,

As my time as PTA President draws to a close, I wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you for a wonderful year.  I have been a CVE parent since 2007, and I still believe there is no elementary school more committed to its students than CVE.  We have the very best students, parents, faculty, and staff and should all be very proud.

Looking back over the past year, our PTA accomplished so much.  We set our goals at the beginning of the school year, we focused and stayed on task, and we did our best to provide the “biggest bang for your buck” with our membership-driven budget.  I am so happy with all we accomplished!

This year the PTA provided:

  • Electronic monthly newsletters
  • Beginning of the year Welcome Back Picnic
  • Back to School Night
  • Pastries for Parents
  • Fall Fundraiser
  • Fall Harvest Fest
  • American Education Week support
  • CVE Open House support
  • Barnes and Noble Night
  • Winter Concert sponsorship
  • An enhanced Box Tops Store
  • The Gigabyte Giveaway
  • Family Fit Night
  • BINGO Night
  • Silent Auction & Movie Night
  • Teacher Appreciation Week meals and gifts for teachers
  • Spring Fair
  • Teacher classroom allocations
  • Various school-wide grants, including funds for the 100 Book Challenge for 2013-2014
  • Field trip contributions

We were able to accomplish so much because we have such a wonderful and dedicated PTA and such an amazing school.  I would like to extend a special thank you to my executive board, committee chairs, and volunteers.  You are truly the workhorses behind the success of the PTA.  Without you, we could not have had such a successful year.  I would also like to give personal thanks to past President Ashley Brown, who provided essential assistance and valuable advice throughout the year.

Please continue to show your support to the PTA by joining next year.  Being a member does more than provide funds and programs to the school; the PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in America. Being a member is being another voice for children.

Thank you again for the honor of serving you, and I wish all my best to the next PTA President, Page Birney, and her new PTA Board.  Please remember to stay committed, stay passionate, and stay involved!  Your children will benefit for years to come.  To those moving on to middle school or elsewhere, farewell and good luck.  You will always be a part of the CVE family.  I wish everyone safe and enjoyable travels, through summer and beyond.

With Gratitude,

Tom Irwin, Jr.
